Honey Bee Health Network
This Video shows the Life Cycle of The Honey Bee and a Varroa Mite.
Very important to understand how the Biology of a Varroa Mite and the Biology Of The Honey Bee grow together to allow Varroa to reproduce in the cell while the Honey Bee pupa matures into an Adult Honey Bee.
ThIs Video was produced by Dr Jeff Harris at the Baton Rouge Bee Lab while Dr Harris and Dr John Harbo were developing the VSH traits in Honey Bees. Dr Greg Hunt and Krispn Given have been working on a Breeding Program at Purdue University enhancing the Traits Of Chewing, Grooming, VSH and Hygienic Behaviors in the Indiana Leg Chewers. The program has been running for over 15 years. The Heartland Honey Bee Breeders Cooperative was formed in 2013 to collaberate with Purdue to distribute Breeder Queens and Production Queens To Beekeepers in the US. The Sustainable Gentics Technology Network was formed in 2017 to Inseminate Queens in Five States to produce more Breeder Queens.
